Responsible Water Use
At Alimos Marina, we are committed to preserving our most valuable resource: water. Responsible water usage is essential not only for the sustainability of our marina but also for the protection of human health and the environment. Always connect hoses to the service tower first and turn off taps when you’re done. Use jet diffusers to conserve, especially by using the marina showers and toilets to preserve your onboard supply. If you see a leak, let us know so we can act immediately.
Save Energy
At Alimos Marina, we believe that every small effort counts when it comes to reducing energy. By adopting simple, everyday practices, we can significantly reduce our environmental impact, lower energy consumption, and create a more sustainable marina for everyone. Make the most of natural daylight and switch off lights when not in use. Choose energy-efficient bulbs and take care when charging your boat—always connect the cable to the boat first, then to the service tower.
Onboard Pollution and Waste Prevention
At Alimos Marina, we are dedicated to protecting the marine environment and preventing onboard pollution. Use biodegradable soaps and keep your engine in top condition to avoid leaks. When refueling, be mindful – don’t overfill – and always report any accidental discharges to our emergency response team.
We are committed to reducing waste and minimizing our environmental footprint. Separate your waste into the appropriate containers and bins—paper, plastic, organic—located near the pontoons. Take glass, electric devices and batteries to the different recycling bins. Waste disposal into the sea is strictly forbidden. Always return expired flares to the manufacturer. Deposit bilge water and oil waste sludge into the black containers that are located at 11 points at the marina.
Protecting Marine Life ecosystems
At Alimos Marina, we recognize the vital importance of marine life and ecosystems in maintaining the health of our waters and the biodiversity that sustains them. Greek waters are home to a rich and diverse array of wildlife, making them one of the most beautiful and ecologically important marine environments in the world.
Never feed wildlife, as it disrupts their natural behavior. If you spot an injured marine animal, close to our surroundings please contact our administration office at 2109880000 for assistance. Let’s protect these creatures by respecting their space and reporting any threats to their safety.
Reducing noise pollution
At Alimos Marina, we are dedicated to fostering a peaceful and sustainable environment for both our visitors and marine life. Noise pollution, especially from boats and marina activities, can disrupt the natural habitat of marine species, which rely on sound for communication, navigation, and feeding. By taking steps to reduce noise pollution, we can preserve the tranquility of the marina and contribute to the health of the surrounding ecosystems. Maintain your boat to minimize noise and emissions. Avoid idling, especially at night, and secure loose sheets on masts to keep the natural sounds of the sea undisturbed. Let the marina be a place of quiet serenity for all.
Sailing with Reverence
At Alimos Marina, we encourage sailors to approach their journeys with a sense of reverence, respecting the sea, the environment, and the creatures that inhabit it. Avoid sensitive areas like seagrass meadows and respect marine migration routes. Sail quietly, gracefully, and never dump waste into the sea.
By adopting mindful and sustainable sailing practices, we can ensure that future generations enjoy the same pristine waters and vibrant marine ecosystems. These practices not only safeguard our precious water resources but also contribute to a more sustainable future, enhancing the experience for all who visit and enjoy the marina.
