On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Alimos Marina hosted the groundbreaking event “Wheelchairs on Board”, an initiative by the “Alli Opsi” association in collaboration with Istion Yachting. The event aimed to promote accessibility in maritime tourism and enhance the autonomy of individuals with mobility disabilities.
For the first time in Greece, people using wheelchairs successfully boarded a sailing yacht via a specially designed ramp. The event also included training on safe procedures for boarding, staying on board, and navigating, clearly demonstrating that equality in experiencing the sea is not only possible but achievable.
This initiative seeks not only to implement practical accessibility solutions but also to raise awareness among the public, tourism professionals, and institutional stakeholders about the importance of genuine inclusion.
Alimos Marina remains committed to supporting socially impactful, accessibility-driven initiatives, actively contributing to the development of a modern, open, and inclusive maritime tourism landscape.
