On March 28, we had the pleasure of hosting students from the Department of Ports and Shipping of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) at Alimos Marina. The visit was organized by Associate Professor Georgios Stathakis, representative of the Department of Port Management and Shipping of NKUA, as part of the course “Port Quality and Safety Management.”
The students had the opportunity to tour the marina’s facilities and learn about its operational processes and development plans. The Director of Alimos Marina, Mr. Vangelis Vlachos, provided an in-depth analysis of the marina’s operations and presented its future development plan.
Meanwhile, the participants had the chance to discuss with the Health, Safety & Environment Officer, Emmanuela Tsekoura, on topics related to safety, environmental management, and certifications. They also conversed with the Deputy Head of the Mooring Department, Athanasios Koutsogiorgos, regarding the complex issues of berth management, as well as with the Head of the Operations Office, Mr. Kostas Beskos, about daily administrative support matters.
Alimos Marina, with 1,100 permanent berths and the highest percentage of professional vessels in Greece, meets all international standards. Its expert personnel exemplifies high-level administration, quality service, and a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental management. The visit provided students with valuable, hands-on experience in the maritime tourism sector.
